A plugin that gets AI agents to reuse existing solutions and cut unnecessary code
Before writing code, it checks the existing implementation, standard library, platform capabilities, and installed dependencies in order, then chooses the smallest solution. The /ponytail-review and /ponytail-audit commands catch unnecessary code and risky logic. Its strength is applying the YAGNI principle alongside security, data-loss, and accessibility safeguards, plus a requirement for small tests.
For anyone who wants to prevent agents from adding unnecessary dependencies and abstractions, and keep diffs small; use it as a simplicity layer alongside Superpowers or Matt.
The large token-savings figures in the repository are based on the project’s own benchmark and have not been independently verified. Keep in mind that Caveman, a similar “short output” tool, achieved 8.5% savings rather than 65% in an independent test [1]. It doesn’t provide TDD or planning on its own.
