GitHub's agent customization directory and version-pinnable skill installation mechanism
A GitHub-operated directory of agents, instructions, skills, hooks, workflows, and plugins, with web search, filtering, and marketplace installation. Its standout feature is the gh skill command, introduced in April 2026: it lets you install a skill with provenance information while pinning it to a specific agent, scope, and version tag/SHA [17]. This is the best mechanism among directories for supply chain control.
Teams using GitHub Copilot and those who want to publish skills through GitHub; skills can also be installed for agents beyond Copilot.
