Explainroo

A CLI that turns scripts into explainer videos with local voiceover and canvas scenes

Turns a script into an explainer video or product demo MP4 using local Kokoro voiceover, Whisper word-level timing, Chrome canvas scenes, Rough.js/Lucide visuals, and FFmpeg. Each render includes subtitles, chapters, a cover image, a GIF, and quality-check outputs. A small but genuinely polished tool that requires no API key and supports 54 voices, eight languages, social media aspect ratios, and word-level subtitles—with zero open issues and tests across multiple operating systems.

Creating educational videos, product demos, and YouTube/TikTok/4:5 versions of the same script without a paid video API.

Downloads a roughly 400 MB model during initial setup; the default output includes an explainroo.com watermark. Local voice quality may not always meet commercial voiceover expectations. Adoption is still low.
